Registrations for the 2026 International Art Bookbinding Competition are now open!
Theme of this edition: La Vagabonde by Colette, an iconic work of French literature exploring independence and the search for self.
Organized by: The Association of World Biennials of Art Bookbinding, this biennial competition aims to promote the art of bookbinding by bringing together amateurs and professionals from around the world.
Competition Process:
- Registration: Pre-register online now. Book numbers will be assigned in the order of registration, unless a specific number is requested.
- Book Reception: In April 2025, you will receive La Vagabonde to bind, printed in high-quality typography on 160 g pure cotton Vélin d’Arches paper, accompanied by illustrations by a selected artist.
- Creation: Let your creativity flow to craft a unique binding—no restrictions on form, technique, or materials.
- Submission: Send your binding before May 15, 2026, without a box or slipcase, to the following address:
Biennales Mondiales de la Reliure d’Art
2 rue Victor Hugo, 78470 Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse, France - Jury: In June 2026, an international jury of renowned professionals will evaluate the works and award prizes.
- Exhibition: In September 2026, all bindings will be exhibited to the public in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse, featuring lectures, a bookbinders’ dinner, an awards ceremony, and a suppliers’ fair.
